Wheelbase: 106" In 1932, Ford blanketed much of the automobile market, offering a wide range of no fewer than 14 models to the buying public. Ford had put automobiles within the reach of ordinary Americans with low prices and rock-solid reliability, and while buyers might only be able to afford a basic two-door coupe priced at $490, the attractive $610 cabriolet brought them into the showroom. Equipped with roll-up windows and a snug cloth top, the 1932 Ford V8 Cabriolet combined exceptionally comfortable and complete appointments with the performance benefits of the new 65-horsepower V8 engine, as well as Ford's sturdy yet lightweight construction. A former AACA National Award winner, the Early Ford V8 Club has judged the 1932 Ford Cabriolet presented here at 998 out of a possible 1,000 points. With a very attractive older restoration, it is finished in Washington Blue and offset by a black beltline and fenders, as well as Tacoma Cream pin striping and steel wire wheels. Notably, the well-fitted soft top is constructed from an original bolt of Ford T-14 fabric, which correctly displays a slight greenish hue. Other exterior features include excellent brightwork, dual cowl-mounted lights, a rear-mounted spare tire with a metal cover, and a single windshield wiper. The interior, featuring factory correct brown leather upholstery, accented by light brown carpeting, remains in excellent condition and reveals few signs of wear. The attractive interior includes a woodgrain dash panel, an engine-turned instrument panel, and door-mounted ashtrays, which, for security reasons, will be sent by the vendor directly to the new owner following the sale of the car. The engine compartment, with its flathead V8 engine, remains period correct in presentation, with correct finishes and components throughout. The restored and detailed undercarriage is likewise excellent, reflecting expert attention and maintenance. This Cabriolet has also been the subject of feature articles in the Early Ford V8 Album, V8 Times, and more recently, it appeared on the cover of Antique Automobile, published by the AACA. Offered in high-point condition, this 1932 Ford Model 18 Cabriolet remains as desirable today as it was in 1932.
