Lot 118: Bentley Brooklands LWB

With the introduction of the Bentley Brooklands in 1992 it was announced that production of the Bentley Mulsanne S and the Bentley Eight would be discontinued. Aimed to appeal to luxury car buyers who might not have had a Bentley on top of their shopping list this new car was intended to rekindle the memories of Brooklands, The Bentley Boys and Le Mans. The sporting connections were reflected in the name and a new sports style centre console gear selector, for the electronically controlled 4-speed automatic gearbox, also appealed to the more sporting driver. The Bentley Brooklands benefited from micro-computer technology which controlled areas including the suspension, instrument displays and air-conditioning. This LWB example is not only offered complete with extensive service history but has also benefited from conversion to LPG, which allows the car to run on either gas or petrol. The service history extends to around 17 stamps in the service booklet and a large number of previous MoT certificates. The car is also complete with handbooks and service booklet in the original Bentley wallet. As a LWB version, the car offers extra leg room, for rear seat passengers and is equipped with rear picnic tables, parchment hide, piped in blue, veneer door cappings with Bentley motif and matching lambs-wool over rugs. As with all LPG equipped cars, this Bentley starts on petrol and automatically switches to LPG after a few seconds. When running on LPG the car is returning 30mpg equivalent, when compared to the cost of petrol. There is no discernible drop in performance when driven on LPG but emissions are greatly reduced. This beautiful Bentley offers outstanding value for money.
