Lot 114: Mercedes-Benz E220 Cabriolet

The Coupe and Cabriolet versions of the W124 Series were a huge success. While the W123 coupe was a bit on the boxy side, with no option of a factory built convertible, the 124 was a sleek, well proportioned coupe, which gave the impression of speed, even when standing still The nose down, tail up stance was typical 1980's but the style failed be blunted by age and remained popular into the mid 1990's. Mercedes launched the Cabriolet version, in Europe, in 1993, the 320CE, later re-designated as the E320, was followed by the less powerful and slightly less expensive, E220. Production of the cabriolets ceased production in 1997 but they continue to be highly sough after, being one of the few full-size sports convertibles available. Here we have a 1994 E220 Cabriolet, which has covered just 74,000, warranted miles from new. It is equipped with a power hood, cruise control and 4 speed, automatic transmission. Finished in blue with contrasting blue leather trim, the car is described as being in immaculate condition and is complete with full service history in support of the warranted miles.
