Overview
AMG customises Mercedes-Benz models, makes dohc four valves per cylinder versions of Mercedes-Benz V8 engines and generally enjoys close links with the factory. It also makes the 'Hammer', a Mercedes 230CE saloon fitted with one of the modified engines and, with the 6-litre version, a top speed of 185 mph/295kmh (0-60mph in five seconds) is claimed.
