Overview

The largest motor company in the world today (2000), Ford, can trace its origins back to a small workshop in the garden of its founders house, Henry Ford. Henry Ford pioneered concepts of mass-production that are now taken for granted in today's world. His vision was to make motoring affordable for everyone and to effectively replace horse-power in the USA.
Milestone US Ford models included the Model T (over 15,000,000 examples were built between 1908-25), Model A, Ford V8 (as used by Bonny and Clyde!), Thunderbird and Mustang. Ford also built car plants all around the world. European models from Ford include the Anglia/Popular/Prefect, Consul/Zephyr, Cortina, Anglia, Capri, Sierra, Granada, Escort, Fiesta and Mondeo as well as all the countless other Ford products such as the Transit Van.
Today Ford also owns many other brands and subsidiaries including Mercury, Lincoln (USA), Volvo, Jaguar, Aston Martin, Land-Rover, and part ownership of Mazda.
