Peter Collins was one of that group of post-war Englishmen who were fascinated with motors, machinery and competition. In the late 1940s and early 1950s, many of these ‘lads’ turned to motor sport...sprints, hillclimbs and circuit racing. The young son of a Kidderminster garage owner threw himself headlong into the spirit and reality of racing as soon as he was old enough to do so. Known very much as the ‘boy’ to those who knew and watched him, because of his youthful good looks and bubbly spirit, he was determined to be successful at what he had chosen to do.

Peter Collins came to be seen as one of the three British ‘wonder boys’ with Stirling Moss and Mike Hawthorn. Moss and Collins were friends from 1949; Hawthorn came on the scene sometime later, and by 1958 all were first rank Grand Prix and sports car drivers. They were very different characters, and this book looks into the character and nature of Peter Collins in his own right, and tells much of the tale in the words of the people who knew him intimately. This book is truly a tale of ‘triumph and tragedy’, an account of a boy who became an intriguing and much admired man.   Binding: Hard cased and jacketed. Size: 205 x 275mm. Many Mono and Colour pictures.
