Norwich Union MSA Classic grows for 2008
After the huge success of its reintroduction for 2007, it's no surprise that the Norwich Union MSA Classic Run is to be bigger this year. Sunday, October 12 is the date and capacity this year will be 900 cars spread on nine different routes. We hope they can increase this to 150 cars on popular routes, otherwise they'll have another sell-out on their hands...
The event is not as heavily motorsport-oriented as in the past - it used to be possible to drive Castle Combe circuit, Prescott Hillclimb AND Gaydon Proving Ground on some routes, whereas no more than one stop en route is a motorsport venue this year. However, the compensation is the opportunity to drive your classic car (built before 31 December 1987) around the full Grand Prix circuit at Silverstone - and for that alone, the entry fee of £110 per car is money well spent.
Starts for the 130-170 mile scenic routes are Bath, Cardiff, Cheltenham, Chester, Dorking, Norwich, Nottingham, Silverstone and a special 80-mile route (£80) for Edwardian vehicles, also from Silverstone. Stops en route (check the website for full details) include Prescott Hillclimb, Heritage Motor Centre Gaydon, Longcross and MIRA Proving Grounds, and stately homes like Broughton Castle, Charlecote Park, Coughton Court, Mapledurham and Wimpole Hall.
Entry forms and more details can be found on www.msaclassic.co.uk.
