Morris Traveller 1963 Morris Traveller 1098 was neglected and about to be sent to the scrap yard when a good neighbour told me about it .so i rushed to the House were it had been kept in an old wooden garage .i had to hire a breakdown recovery company to tow it to my Address i stripped all in the inside as it was heaverly infested with mice and nest i also had to rip out the roof lining ,the electricle wiring had also been attacked by rats or mice .the driver and passenger doors were seized the only option was to climb through the back doors .the back brakes were also seized on .i eventualy got the engine running but sounded like an old tractor so replaced it with a second hand one .i worked on the traveller for 5 years extesivly replacing parts with new or good second hand parts i have just fitted brand new Duotone seat covers at a cost of over £400 also new carpet set .i also found an original windscreen metal viser and had it fitted by a morris minor restorer i am about to have the engine fitted with new big ends and main bearings i completely stripped the body work bought a compressor and resprayed it myself with 3 coats of etching and 5 coats of undercoat and 3 top coats ,the woodwork is superb as i believe it could have been replaced some years ago i stripped it all down and didnt find any black spot or rot i stained it and put 4 coats of yaught varnish .inside and out it flew through the M.O.T.i was told by the M.O.T. examiner the tyres were over 25 years old and still good as new i also used it for my Daughters wedding ,i applied to DVLA and got all the history of the car that took 12 months to retrieve and it is amazing reading originaly was first owned by a lady in London .the registration 1986-?? is original and had many offers to sell it but sorry not for sale i believe the registration is the heart of the car, thank you for taking the time to read this about (old Albert) |
