Morris launched its Isis 6 cylinder model in 1955, two years after the demise of its last attempt at a large, six cylinder saloon car. The Isis shared its bodywork with its smaller sister, the Oxford Series II apart from its longer front wings and bonnet. Two versions of the Isis were available, the Saloon and a "woody" style estate car, the Countryman.

Powered by a 2639cc C-Series engine (as found in the Austin Westminster range) the Isis could reach around 90mph and provided comfortable interior accommodation and a smooth ride. In 1956 a Series II Isis arrived which had revised exterior styling and right hand side mounted gear change to replace the earlier column change set-up.

In both Series I and II variants the Isis failed to sell in any significant quantity and production ended in 1958 after only 12,000 or so cars had been built.
