Ford introduced a new luxury model, the Zodiac, to its big saloon range in 1954. The Zodiac was based on the six cylinder Zephyr and used a high compression version of the Zephyr engine. The Zodiac came with an incredibly high specification which included two-tone paint, white-wall tyres, twin auxiliary lamps and gold plated badges.
Inside the Zodiac boasted leather upholstery, a heater, clock, arm-rests and a radio. The Zodiac became popular with the public and added a touch of glamour to the other Ford saloon models.
