The Consul/Zephyr/Zodiac family had always been stylish and ground breaking throughout the Mk I, Mk II and Mk III ranges. In 1966 a Mk IV version of the Zephyr/Zodiac entered production and introduced some new features. All round disc brakes and fully independent suspension were a first for Ford and continued the "Z" range for innovation.
The upper part of the Mk IV range consisted of the Zodiac and Zodiac Executive. The Executive came with even more luxurious fittings than the "normal" Zodiac and stayed at the top of the range until production ended in 1972.
