Launched alongside the MkIII Morris 1800 versions the Morris 2200 first appeared in 1972. The 2200 inherited the new MkIII 1800 features and introduced the new six cylinder E6 engine to the large Morris Saloon family. This new engine was really a straight six version of the Maxi engine which meant an overhead camshaft and 110bhp.
Despite its dated appearance the 2200 was well received and its smooth six cylinder engine delivered good performance. The 2200 stayed in production until 1975 when it was replaced by the 18-22 / "wedge" series.
