The last Hillman Minx to use a sidevalve engine, the Minx Phase VII, made its debut in 1953. The new Minx featured mainly cosmetic changes plus the customary additional trim and extra brightwork. The rear of the Minx Phase VII featured a larger boot and extended rear wings.
Once again the Minx was available with a choice of different body types including saloon, estate, convertible and the hardtop coupe "Californian" model.
