In a higher price bracket, Fiat brought out the 1400. It was launched at the Geneva motor show of 1950. The 1900 was brought out two year later. Their bodies were much larger and more spacious than those of the 1100/1200. The Fiat 1400 was the first truly new post war Fiat and had a monocoque body. There was also a diesel model for the Italian market. The four cylinder engines were 1,395 cc/44 bhp and 1901 cc/60 bhp.
Italian designers built some superb coupes and convertibles on the basis of these cars.
